Caption (A) Staining with the TUNEL method and for incorporation of BrdU, marking proliferating cells. TUNEL staining is green (solid arrows) and BrdU is red. Both stain the nucleus. Note the presence of numerous double stained cells (light yellow) indicated by open arrows. (B) Staining with the TUNEL method and for expression of nestin. TUNEL staining is green (solid arrows), cells stained for both TUNEL staining (green nuclear staining) and nestin (red cytoplasmic staining) are indicated with open arrows. (C) Staining with the TUNEL method and for expression of peripherin. TUNEL staining is green and localized to the nucleus and peripherin is orange and localized to the cytoplasm (arrowheads). Arrows indicate some TUNEL positive-cells not staining for peripherin. Scale bar in C is 20 um and all panels are of the same magnification.
