| Caption | The images were generated by compressing a series of optical sections onto a single focal plane that represents the entire intraembryonic vasculature as viewed from the ventral surface. Comparison of the vasculature of the E8.0 wild type (A) to its MEF2C-null littermate (B) reveals that vasculogenesis as monitored by the development of the dorsal aortae proceeds normally in the mutant. In contrast, the endocardium of the mutant, whie not obviously abnormal, is retarded compared to the normal littermate. DA, dorsal aortae; AIP, anterior intestinal portal. | |||||||||
