Caption Dct (TRP-2) antisense in situ hybridizations of E11.5 mutant embryos. The tail and hindlimb bud region is shown of embryos that are wild-type (A), homozygous for Mgf (SlF) null allele (B), homozygous for Sl dickie (C), or homozygous for Kit functional null allele (D). The litter that contained the embryo shown in D was developmentally slightly younger than the others, so that cells were seen over a wider area along the A-P axis compared to the embryo shown in B. In addition, this embryo was stained longer than the others, which affected the appearance of the stained cells. The dashed lines roughly indicate the lateral limits of the migrating staging area. In C, the location of the limb bud, which was removed for genotyping, is indicated with parentheses; dirt particles are marked with an asterisk. hl, hindlimb; t, tail. Bar, 200 microns.
