In C, expression of Lfng is shown in blue (arrowheads) and expression of Meox1 (Mox-1) is shown in red. Presumptive somitomere 1 is shown by arrow. Arrows in D show that expression of Lfng precedes the formation of intersomitic boundaries; arrowheads show the posterior edge of the Lfng expression domain. Expression of Lfng (blue) and Dll1 (red) are shown in E; expression domains overlap at the posterior edge of the anterior Lfng stripe (arrowheads), while more caudally they overlap entirely. F, presomitic cells that express neither Lfng (blue) or Dll1 (red) appear as somitogenesis proceeds.
