Definition | In double-stranded nucleic acids, a "base pair" is the structure formed between two complementary nucleotides by hydrogen bonding. In DNA, adenine(A) pairs with thymine (T) and cytosine (C) pairs with guanine (G). In RNA, adenine (A) pairs with uracil (U) and cytosine (C) pairs with guanine (G). See the Figure at Wikipedia. |
