Assay type: RNA in situ
MGI Accession ID: MGI:6258759
Gene symbol: Hoxa4
Gene name: homeobox A4
Probe: Hoxa4 probe
Probe preparation: Antisense labelled with digoxigenin RNA
Results
Specimen 3 Hoxa4 +/+: embryonic day 10.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: future spinal cord Present Regionally restricted 3_Hoxa4 +/+ Anterior boundary of expression in ectoderm at the upper cervical spinal cord and spinal ganglia. Expression levels decrease caudally. Expression undetectable at thoracic level.
TS17: spinal ganglion Present Regionally restricted 3_Hoxa4 +/+ Anterior boundary of expression in ectoderm at the upper cervical spinal cord and spinal ganglia. Expression levels decrease caudally. Expression undetectable at thoracic level.
TS17: paraxial mesenchyme Present Regionally restricted 3_Hoxa4 +/+ Expression in mesoderm anteriorly to prevertebra 1. Expression is reduced posterior to prevertebra 6.

Specimen 3 Hoxa4 tm1Bc/tm1Bc: embryonic day 10.5; Asxl1tm1Bc/Asxl1tm1Bc (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: future spinal cord Present Regionally restricted 3_Hoxa4 tm1Bc/tm1Bc Authors state that in 5/7 homozygous mutant embryos, anterior boundaries of both ectodermal and mesodermal expression are shifted anteriorly by 1 or 2 somites relative to wild-type embryos. Two mutant embryos show expression in caudal mesoderm where it is never detected in the wild-type.
