homeostasis/metabolism

impaired glucose tolerance ( J:391114 )

♂ • intraperitoneal glucose tolerance remains normal at 8 weeks of age but males at 20 weeks of age show a moderate glucose intolerance on chow diet while females remain glucose tolerant regardless of diet or age

♂ • however, both males and females at 12 and 22 weeks of age remain insulin sensitive in the intraperitoneal insulin tolerance test and fasted insulin levels are normal at 14 and 24 weeks of age, and no change in fasted blood glucose levels are seen independent of diet and age indicating an absence of diabetic phenotype
