N normal phenotype
growth/size/body
• fat mass is increased in 20 week old mice
• however, lean mass is normal
• males and females are 4.1-7.5% and 6-14.3% heavier than wild-type mice, respectively, from 7 weeks of age

homeostasis/metabolism
• mice exhibit lower core body temperature during acute cold stress at 20 weeks of age
• however, mice exhibit normal energy expenditure and normal food intake and activity levels
• mice exhibit elevated C-peptide levels at 20 weeks of age
• males and females exhibit elevated fasting blood glucose at 20 weeks of age
• fasting blood glucose levels are elevated only in females at 5 weeks of age
• fasting plasma peptide YY (PYY) and amylin levels are elevated in males prior to obesity
• however, PYY levels are similar to wild-type at 20 weeks of age, while amylin levels are still elevated at 20 weeks of age
• fasting plasma resistin levels are elevated only in males at 20 weeks of age
• however, fasting plasma glucagon and gastric inhibitory polypeptide levels are normal
• fasting plasma ghrelin levels are lower in males prior to obesity
• however, ghrelin levels are similar to wild-type at 20 weeks of age
• follicle stimulating hormone levels are lower in obese males at 20 weeks of age
• luteinizing hormone levels are lower in obese males at 20 weeks of age
• mice exhibit elevated fasting plasma insulin levels at 5 and 20 weeks of age
• mice exhibit higher fasting plasma leptin levels at 20 weeks of age
• thyroid stimulating hormone levels are lower in obese males at 20 weeks of age
• non-esterified fatty acids are lower in females at 5 weeks of age
• however, levels of non-esterified fatty acids are similar to wild-type levels at 20 weeks of age
• females exhibit elevated phospholipid levels at 5 weeks of age and both males and females exhibit higher phospholipid levels at 20 weeks of age
• mice exhibit glucose intolerance at 20 weeks of age
• however, insulin sensitivity is similar to wild-type mice at 20 weeks of age
• growth hormone levels are lower in obese males at 20 weeks of age
• prolactin levels are lower in obese males at 20 weeks of age
• mice exhibit higher cholesterol levels at 20 weeks of age
• mice exhibit higher triglyceride levels at 20 weeks of age

adipose tissue
• mice exhibit greater brown adipose tissue percentage at 20 weeks of age, but not at 5 weeks
• white adipose tissue percent is increased (J:201055)
• mice exhibit greater gonadal white adipose tissue and inguinal white adipose tissue percentage at 20 weeks of age, but not at 5 weeks (J:256501)
• fat mass is increased in 20 week old mice
• however, lean mass is normal
• adipocytes are 50% larger in gonadal white adipose tissue and 27% larger in inguinal white adipose tissue depots
