• at 5 weeks of age the leading edge of the terminal end buds is significantly past the lymph node unlike in controls
• however, at 8 weeks of age there is no observable difference from controls
• no alteration in mammary gland development is seen during lactation or involution
• increased alveolar density at all stages investigated with the most marked difference at 5dG
