renal/urinary system
• between 4 and 12 months of age most mice develop some abnormalities in the urinary tract
• multiple macroscopic and microscopic cysts are seen in some (4 of 21) mice
• cysts originate mainly from the collecting ducts
• lack of glomerular structures in some mice
• expression analysis indicates changes in the adhesion properties of the tubular epithelial cells
• double renal pelvis in some neonates
• seen at E17.5
• some mice display left, right, or bilateral kidney hydronephrosis at 4 to 12 months of age
• in some mice
• duplicated left kidney in some mice
• mild dilation in some mice
• double ureters are seen at E17.5
• duplicated right ureters in some mice between 4 and 12 months
