• in a surgically induced ischemic hindlimb model VEGFA treatment does not stimulate neovessel formation in mutants unlike in wild-type mice; however FGF2 treatment stimulates neovessel formation in both mutant and wild-type mice
• neovascularization of implanted matrigel is reduced in VEGFA-treated homozygotes compared to wild-type mice; however, embryonic vascular development is normal
