phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
behavior/neurological
• females, but not males, show anxiety-like behaviors in the elevated plus maze, with reduced entries in the open arms and less time spent in the open arms
• however, no differences are seen in the time spent in the center, rearing number or total distance traveled in the open field test and no differences are seen in the tail suspension test
• males, but not females, exhibit a deficit in social discrimination, not showing any preference for a novel stranger mouse
• however, mice show no deficit in social preference
• both males and females show increased grooming

homeostasis/metabolism
• females, but not males, show increased skin permeability

integument
• females, but not males, show increased skin permeability
• mice exhibit spontaneous scratching behavior
• females, but not males, show an increase in the time spent scratching over 6 to 32 weeks
• females and males show an increase in the number of scratching bouts per 30 min
