• cultured hippocampal neurons and acute hippocampal slices transfected with Cre + DIO-GFP show increased inhibitory postsynaptic transmission

• in culture, E18 hippocampal neurons transfected with Cre + DIO-GFP at 0 DIV show a significant increase in mIPSC amplitude at 14 DIV, consistent with the observed increase in synaptic GABAAR intensity
• in vivo, P0 newborns injected with AAV-Cre + AAV-DIO-GFP show a significantly increased mIPSC amplitude in hippocampal CA1 pyramidal neurons from acute brain slices at P15-19
• however, cultured hippocampal neurons and acute hippocampal slices transfected with Cre + DIO-GFP show no significant changes in mIPSC decay time or mIPSC frequency, consistent with normal postsynaptic GABAAR cluster density
