• mice exhibit exacerbated transverse aortic constriction (TAC)-induced cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure, showing severe left ventricular dysfunction, with decreases in left ventricular ejection fraction, fractional shortening, left ventricle internal dimension at end-diastole (LVIDs) and left ventricle internal dimension at systole (LVIDd) and higher death rate at 6 weeks post-TAC compared to wild-type controls
• hypertrophic phenotypes induced by TAC, including gross heart size, ratios of heart weight to body weight, heart weight to tibia length, and lung weight to body weight are exaggerated and magnitude of TAC-induced increases in cell size and cardiac fibrosis is greater than in wild-type controls
