• mice exhibit normal acoustic startle response and behavior in an open field test
• female mice exhibit enhanced sucrose preference compared with single homozygotes
• female mice exhibit decreased immobility in the forced swim test
• female mice spend more time in the closed arms of an elevated plus maze compared with wild-type mice
• dams that fail to retrieve pups exhibit manic-like exploratory behavior
• female mice exhibit disrupted sleep patterns with variations in total amount of time spent asleep (longer average wake bout throughout the light phase and shorter first half of the dark phase at ZT12-18) compared with wild-type mice
• however, the average length of individual sleep bouts is normal
• due to deficiency in postnatal care, offspring of mothers exhibit decreased survival within the first two days after birth, reduced milk consumption, and slow postnatal weight gain compared with offspring of wild-type mice
• however, pups raised by wild-type dams exhibit normal survival
