immune system
• germinal center B cells have a reduced proliferation rate in immunized mice
• germinal center B cells have fewer cells at S phase compared with wild-type controls
• neonatal transitional B cell development into neonatal CD5+ B1a cells is impeded
• mice show mildly decreased cell populations at the T1 and T3 stages but increased T2 stage cells, indicating a defect at the transitional B cell stage
• mice show mildly decreased populations at the T3 stage
• mice show increased T2 stage cell populations
• SRBC-immunized mice show less plasma cell differentiation in the bone marrow
• B1 B cells, especially B1a cells, are ablated in the peritoneal cavity
• in peritoneal cavity
• slight increase in follicular B cells
• precursor B cell (pre-B cell) population is slightly decreased in the bone marrow
• however, the immature and transitional B cell populations in the bone marrow and transitional B cell population in the peripheral blood are unchanged
• the dark zone compartment is reduced in germinal centers accompanied by an increase in portion of light zone B cells
• after immunization with the model antigen sheep red blood cells (SRBC), the percentage and the absolute number of germinal center B cells in the spleen, in the mesenteric lymph node and Peyers patch are reduced
• mice do not generate IgG antibody responses against NP-LPS and NP-Ficoll
• mice do not generate IgM antibody responses against NP-LPS and NP-Ficoll
• mice exhibit a defect in T1 humoral immunity
