reproductive system
• sperm that are seen are immotile
• slightly smaller than those of wild-type controls
• elongated spermatids are abnormally retained in stage IX seminiferous tubules
• when found arrangement of mitochondria and outer dense fibers are abnormal, and the inner 9+2 arrangement of microtubules are missing
• abnormal localization or loss of mitochondria
• flagella are rarely found and those that are seen show impaired elongation
• hardly any spermatozoa are seen in the epididymis
• abnormal head shapes are seen at stage XI
• abnormal contraction of the manchette in an abnormal location results in formation of club heads
• barely any elongated spermatids are found
• males housed with wild-type females form plugs but fail to sire pups
• pups can be sired by intracytoplasmic sperm injection
