growth/size/body
• group-housed males show a slight, but significant, reduction in body weight gain when fed a high-fat diet than wild-type littermates
• females do not show a difference in body weight from wild-type littermates when fed a high-fat diet

behavior/neurological
• in the operant responding test to acquire a high fat diet pellet, males, but not females, tend to be less motivated to press the lever to obtain high-fat pellets after overnight fasting
• males spend less time in eating, but not drinking, during both the light and dark phases in the LABORAS cage
• female, but not male, mice tend to have reduced binge-like eating behavior compared to wild-type littermates
• male, but not female, mice tend to consume less of a high-fat diet than wild-type littermates in a 24 hour intake of high-fat diet during weekly intermittent access
• in the social dominance tube test, females, but not males, exhibit a fewer number of wins or a greater number of retreats from the tube, indicating social subordination
• however, male and female mice do not show differences in social interaction and social novelty during the 3-chamber sociability test
• males spend less time on the open arms of the elevated plus maze compared to wild-type males
• however, mice show no differences it the time spend in the center zone and the distance traveled during the open field test or in the time spend in the light box or the number of entries to light box in the light/dark box test
• mice do not show any differences in the tail suspension test, forced swim test, or sucrose preference test although females show a non-statistically significant increase in immobile time during the forced swim test
• females show a trend toward increased grooming during the light cycle in the LABORAS cage
• males display light cycle-specific reduction in rearing behavior in the LABORAS cage
• males display light cycle-specific reduction in locomotor activity in the LABORAS cage
• however, mice show no difference in motor performance on the rotarod

growth/size/body
• females, but not males, gain more weight on a high-fat diet when group housed
• however, on a regular chow, no difference in body weight is seen in either single or grouped mice

behavior/neurological
• in an operant-responding task to acquire a high fat diet pellet, individually-housed females exhibit fewer nose pokes and earn fewer rewards than wild-type mice, indicating reduced preference for high-fat diet
• however, buried food test shows no impairment of olfaction
• when group-housed mice are individually housed temporarily, an increase in consumption of high fat diet overnight is seen
• in an operant-responding task to acquire a high fat diet pellet, individually-housed females exhibit fewer nose pokes and earn fewer rewards than wild-type mice, indicating reduced preference for high-fat diet
• group-housed females show reduced immobility in the forced swim test compared to individually-housed mutant females
• group-housed female mice show reduced time exploring the light side of the light/dark box than individually-housed mutant females
• however, mice show no differences in the three-chamber social interaction, Barnes maze probe trial or social dominance tasks
• females, but not males, exhibit increased grooming
