• the enhanced lactate secretion by LPS seen in control peritoneal macrophages is weakened, indicating a defect in glycolysis activation in inflammatory macrophages
• however, cytokine expression in macrophages and glucose uptake in peritoneal macrophages are unaffected
• mice show an increase in plasma TNF-alpha levels in response to LPS
• mice exhibit a low resistance to LPS-induced shock compared to controls
