Find Mice Using the International Mouse Strain Resource (IMSR)
Mouse lines carrying:
Sox10tm8.1Weg mutation (0 available); any Sox10 mutation (33 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• mice die immediately after birth

nervous system
• peripheral nerves are thinner in CNS-proximal regions and sometimes appear defasciculated in more distal regions
• Schwann cells are reduced in numbers in spinal nerves at E18.5
• marker analysis indicates that the remaining Schwann cells are severely delayed in their capacity to differentiate or are incapable of differentiation
• the number of Mbp and Plp-1 expressing oligodendrocytes are reduced at E18.5, indicating a delay in oligodendroglial differentiation
• however, oligodendroglial cells in the spinal cord appear normal at E18.5

digestive/alimentary system
• fewer than 5% of mice succumb to a megacolon around time of weaning

integument
• fully penetrant white belly spot from second generation backcross to C3H and onwards

nervous system
• the number of Mbp and Plp-1 expressing oligodendrocytes are reduced in the spinal cord at P3 but not later times, indicating a slight and transient delay in oligodendroglial differentiation during the first postnatal days
• however, sciatic nerves, development and maintenance of Schwann cells and PNS myelin, and spinal cord development appear normal

pigmentation
• fully penetrant white belly spot from second generation backcross to C3H and onwards
