• only 1 phenotypic mutant of 38 pups born to heterozygte x homozygote crosses survived to wean age but 21 were dead before phenotypic assessment at 3 weeks of age, and only 11 phenotypic mutants were identified out of 71 pups born from heterozygous intercrosses but 9 were lost before phenotypic assessment
