• Background Sensitivity: using a slitlamp, a "major red fleck at the back of the eye" is observed at low frequency among mice of the C3H inbred strain; homozygous mutants cannot be identified or genotyped. Attempts at mapping the mutation in crosses to C57BL/6J were abandoned because the phenotype was not observed among the F2 progeny.
