• in the streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic model, both male and female STZ-treated mice show improved glucose tolerance in an IPGTT test with a significantly decreased area under the curve (AUC) relative to STZ-treated controls
• in the high-fat diet (HFD)-induced diabetic model, 8- and 12-week-old HFD-fed males show improved glucose tolerance in an IPGTT test with a significantly decreased AUC relative to HFD-fed control males
• however, insulin sensitivity remains normal in both sexes after STZ treatment and is also unaffected in males after HFD feeding
