digestive/alimentary system
• increase in small intestinal mass but no increase in length
• crypt proliferation frequently extends downward toward the bottom of the crypts
• increase in apoptosis coincident with the increase in proliferation
• decrease in the number of Paneth cells
• the majority of mice develop adenomas or adenocarcinomas at 12-17 months of age
• the majority of mice develop adenomas or adenocarcinomas at 12-17 months of age
• lesions are typically polyp-shaped or flat
• adenomas and adenocarcinomas are seen in the small intestine only

neoplasm
