• following NGF deprivation, application of 3MB-PP1 to the cell body compartment of cultured dorsal root ganglion inhibits axon degeneration unlike in wild-type cultures

• however, axon degeneration is not blocked when 3MB-PP1 is applied only to the axon compartment
