Decrease in mast cells in the jejunum of T. spiralis-infected Nfatc2iptm1.1Glm/Nfatc2iptm1.1Glm mice

immune system
• decreased jejunal mastocytosis after infection with T.spiralis larvae
• however, the number of mast cells in uninfected mice is not different from wild-type
• impairment in IL-4 and IL-13 responses in anti-CD3 stimulated mesenteric T helper cells from T.spiralis infected mice
• after infection with T.spiralis larvae, serum IL4 levels are reduced 4-fold
• in nave T helper cells cultured in Th1 polarizing conditions for 7 days and stimulated with plate-bound anti-CD3 for 24 hours
• after anti-CD3 stimulation of mesenteric T helper cells from T.spiralis infected mice
• mesenteric T helper display significantly impaired IL3 production
• after anti-CD3 stimulation of mesenteric T helper cells from T.spiralis infected mice
• reduction in IL4 production by in vitro derived Th2 cells

• an elevated intestinal worm burden after T. spiralis infection
