• unlike wild-type C57BL/6 mice, mice are resistant to cigarette-smoke induced emphysema with normal lung compliance, pressure-volume loops, lung inflammation and alveolar septal cell proliferation

• however, co-administration of PKF118-310 reverses protection from airspace enlargement and co-administration of PPE and PKF118-310 exhibit increased alveolar septal cell proliferation
