Diminished cardiac hypertrophy of Camk2dtm1.2Eno/Camk2dtm1.2Eno mice after thoracic aortic constriction

cardiovascular system
• following thoracic aortic constriction (TAC), mice exhibit a 12% increase in heart weight to body weight compared to a 52% increase observed in similarly treated wild-type mice
• TAC-treated mice exhibit minimal increase in ventricular wall thickness with no fibrosis unlike similarly treated wild-type mice
• mice fail to exhibit an increase in cardiomyocyte size following TAC unlike wild-type mice
• TAC-treated wild-type mice exhibit less hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes compared to in similarly treated wild-type mice
• however, calcium ion handling inc cardiomyocytes is normal

homeostasis/metabolism
