• however, otic vessel patterning is normal

• canal epithelium is absent unlike in wild-type mice
decreased lateral semicircular canal size ( J:142510 )
• truncation of the lateral semicircular canal occurs at E12.5 following expanded and accelerated fusion of the lateral pouches compared to in wild-type mice
