• the ratio of reading frame-1 usage of the DFL16.1 gene segment to reading frame-2 usage is reversed in the B cells of these mice
• mature B cells express heavy-chains with increased hydrophobicity compared to controls
• unique in-frame heavy chain transcripts from B cells at all stages of development have greater than 7 nucleotides lost at the 3' end
• unique in-frame heavy chain transcripts from mature B cells have decreased 5' nucleotide loss

immune system
• there is over a 40% decrease in the number of late pro-B cells (i.e. fraction D cells) compared to controls
• numbers of CD19+ cells are reduced in the bone marrow and spleen by around 20% to 30%
• there is about a 40% decrease in the number of immature B cells (ie. fraction E cells) found in the bone marrow
• there is about a 30% decrease in the number of transitional T3(A) B cells (i.e. "anergic" B cells) found in the spleen
• there is about a 40% decrease in the number of mature recirculating B cells found in the bone marrow
• there is about a 40% decrease in the number of follicular B cells found in the spleen
• spleen cellularity is reduced around 20% compared to controls
• antigen specific IgG1 levels are reduced 6-fold compared to wild-type in response to immunization with a recombinant strain of Salmonella that elicits a T cell-dependent B cell response
• antigen specific IgG2a levels are reduced 6-fold compared to wild-type in response to immunization with a recombinant strain of Salmonella that elicits a T cell-dependent B cell response
• antigen specific IgG2a levels are reduced 34-fold compared to wild-type in response to immunization with a recombinant strain of Salmonella that elicits a T cell-dependent B cell response
• antigen specific IgM levels are one-third of that observed in wild-type controls seven days after immunization with the T cell-independent antigen DEX
• antigen specific IgM levels increase 4-fold over wild-type in response to immunization with a recombinant strain of Salmonella that elicits a T cell-dependent B cell response
