cellular
• mouse embryonic fibroblasts exhibit a defect in initiating translation and fail to exhibit increased methionine incorporation following insulin stimulation unlike wild-type cells
• following synchronization, mouse embryonic fibroblasts enter S phase 18 hours after serum addition compared to wild-type cells that enter S phase after 12 hours

liver/biliary system
• hepatocytes exhibit reduced proliferation compared to in wild-type mice
• hepatocytes exhibit a defect in initiating translation and fail to exhibit increased methionine incorporation following insulin stimulation unlike wild-type cells

adipose tissue
• mice exhibit decreased retroperitoneal and inguinal adipose tissue weight compared to wild-type mice
• mice exhibit adipocyte hypoplasia
• however, lipid content is normal

growth/size/body
• at 3 months of age, mice weight less than wild-type mice despite equivalent head to anus length
