• at 12 weeks of age the gonadal fat pad is 38% the size in control littermates
• at 12 weeks of age the retroperitoneal fat pad is 15% the size in control littermates

• following exposure to inducers of adipocyte differentiation, MEFs display enhanced lipid accumulation
• however, cell cycle and proliferation are similar to wild-type
