• decreased incidence and delayed onset of diabetes relative to the NOD background control
• at 14 weeks of age the insulitis score is lower than in NOD controls, and splenocytes transferred from 6 week old transgenic donors into NOD mice homozygous for the scid mutation results in a lower incidence of hyperglycemia in the host than those recieving non-transgenic NOD splenocytes
