nervous system
N
• extensive characterization of the dendritic structures of hippocampal neurons reveals no differences compared to wild-type mice (J:133898)
• normal basal synaptic transmission and plasticity and unaltered excitatory synapse/spine density (J:209586)
• latency to PTZ-induced seizure is reduced by 36%, incidence of seizures is increased (52% compared to 36% in controls) and severity of induced seizures is increased compared to controls
• decrease in the number of inhibitory synapses in the subicular stratum radiatum region
• numbers of inhibitory synapses are significantly reduced in cultured hippocampal neurons
• reduced mIPSC and sIPSC frequencies but not amplitudes in pyramidal neurons from mice at age P15-P20
• reduction in mIPSC frequency is more severe in younger mice (P5-P6)

behavior/neurological
