• injection of AAV-Cre removes the neo cassette and results in a null allele
• following injection of AAV-Cre, 7 of 9 CA1 pyramidal neurons are unresponsive to adenosine stimulation
• however, the action potential threshold duration and amplitude, resting potential and input resistance following adenosine stimulation are no different between unresponsive and responsive neurons
• fEPSP is reduced to 40% of its baseline amplitude in regions contralateral to AAV-Cre injection following adenosine stimulation
• AAV-Cre-induced reduction in A1 receptors in CA3 neurons abolishes all adenosine affects
