cardiovascular system
• conscious, unanesthetized mutants at 2, 4, and 6 months of age, have increased systolic left ventricle dimension, decreased fractional shortening, and a slower mean velocity of circumferential fiber shortening
• baseline LV dP/dt is normal, however, the increase in LV dP/dt in response to acute doses of isoproterenol is blunted by nearly 50%
• isolated cardiac myocytes show a 40% decrease in beta-adrenergic receptor-dependent increases in calcium transient amplitudes
• exhibit enhanced susceptibility to cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis in response to chronic isoproterenol-induced stress
