N normal phenotype
limbs/digits/tail
• instability and changes at the ankle joint are exhibited starting at 9 months of age in some mutants and in most by 14 months of age with progressing severity; 87% of male and 21% of female mutants are affected

mortality/aging
• most mutants die by 22 months of age

behavior/neurological
• at 20 months of age, mutants display tiptoe walking
• at 20 months of age, mutants may display motor paresis

skeleton
• swollen ankle joints are observed
• progressive anklyotic osteoarthritic lesions develop in homozygotes, usually starting at ~14 months of age
• instability and changes at the ankle joint are exhibited starting at 9 months of age in some mutants and in most by 14 months of age with progressing severity; 87% of male and 21% of female mutants are affected
• marked ossification of extra-articular soft tissue at the ankle occurs at 20 months
• early in observed osteoarthritic pathology, surface of cartilage is rough and thinning, with detectable fissures in cartilage layers
• cartilaginous hyperplastic tissues bridge articular cavities, and subsequently ossify
• bone spurs are observed as cartilaginous projections from periosteal tissues subjacent to synovial-articular cartilage junction
• severely affected ankle joints appear to have lost synovial lining
• ankle joints show fusion of tarsal bones, bridging between calcaneous and metatarsal bones at 20 months; 87% of male and 21% of female mutants are affected

immune system
• progressive anklyotic osteoarthritic lesions develop in homozygotes, usually starting at ~14 months of age

pigmentation
• mutants have a different coat color than normal (color - yellowish-brown, not agouti); not determined if this is secondary to joint phenotype or due to another genetic mutation

integument
• mutants have a different coat color than normal (color - yellowish-brown, not agouti); not determined if this is secondary to joint phenotype or due to another genetic mutation

homeostasis/metabolism
• swollen ankle joints are observed
