• following energy stress (induced by treatment with 2-deoxyglucose) mutant MEFs display a less pronounced decrease in cell size compared to wild-type cells; however under normal conditions no differences in cell size or proliferation are seen

• following ATP depletion mutant MEFs are resistant to dephosphorylation of RPS6K and EIF4EBP1
