Mouse lines carrying:
Npytm2Rpa mutation (1 available); any Npy mutation (19 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
adipose tissue
• fat pads weigh less than wild-type under normal conditions (no deoxycycline treatment so that Npy is overexpressed)

growth/size/body
N
• body weights, food consumption, and adiposity are no different from wild-type under normal conditions (no deoxycycline treatment)
• doxycycline treatment to reduce expression of Npy results in a similar decrease in body weight and food consumption during the first few days of doxycycline treatment as in wild-type, however homozygotes take a longer time to recover their body weights than wild-type

nervous system
• exhibit decreased sensitivity to kainate-induced seizures under normal conditions (no deoxycycline treatment), with greater latencies to onset of stage 3 and stage 5 seizures and reduced amount of time spent in stages 3, 4, and 5
• deoxycycline treatment for 1 week increases kainate sensitivity such that seizures are no longer different from that in wild-type

behavior/neurological
• exhibit decreased sensitivity to kainate-induced seizures under normal conditions (no deoxycycline treatment), with greater latencies to onset of stage 3 and stage 5 seizures and reduced amount of time spent in stages 3, 4, and 5
• deoxycycline treatment for 1 week increases kainate sensitivity such that seizures are no longer different from that in wild-type
