immune system
• thymi contain CD3+ gamma/delta TCR+ cells, in contrast to some published reports
• thymocytes are unable to be activated by anti-CD3epsilon antibody treatment
• 5.3-fold reduction in numbers found in the thymus
• there is a strict developmental block in double negative T cells at the transition from the CD44-negative,CD25-positive stage to the CD44-, CD25- negative stage
• fewer gamma/delta T cells are present compared to wild-type thymi; progeny of these cells are subsequently lost before reaching periphery
• double-positive T cells are completely absent
• no single-positive cells are found in the thymus
• no single-positive cells are found in the thymus
• no gamma-delta T cells are found in the periphery
• abnormal T cell expansion indicates a lymphoproliferative disorder, associated with a Th2-like polarization (increased Il4 expression)
• spleens lack gamma/delta T cells
• lymph nodes lack gamma/delta T cells
