• the NMDA/AMPA response ratio - i.e., the peak-amplitude ratio of NMDA- to AMPA-receptor mediated evoked excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs) - of CA1 pyramidal neurons in hippocampal slices from 17-24 day old heterozygous mutants is 36% greater than in wild-type slices
• the frequency and amplitude of AMPA evoked and spontaneous, miniature excitatory postsynaptic currents are unaltered, indicating the enhanced NMDA/AMPA ratio is due to increased NMDA responsiveness
