• behaviors associated with the persistence of formalin induced pain are significantly reduced however acute pain responses are not different from wild-type

• scratching and stretching responses to serotonin injection are reduced

• homozygous mutants are otherwise healthy and fertile with normal motor abilities and responses to acute thermal, mechanical, and chemical pain responses
