cardiovascular system
• myocytes in the pulmonary vein muscular wall are replaced with fibrous tissue
• mice exhibit dilation of the atria with large thrombi that partially occlude the lumen
• mice exhibit mild heart lesions with multifocally extensive and diffuse fibrosis in the ventricles and atria that worsens with age
• mice exhibit occasional mineralization associated with fibrosis
• the myocardium and endocardium of the ventricles are most affected by fibrosis
• mice exhibit an increase in chamber turbulence or pooling in the heart
• cardiomyocytes exhibit decreased percent shortening, rate of contraction and rate of relaxation compared to wild-type mice
• cardiomyocytes exhibit a 40% lower basal level of free calcium ions and after stimulation a lower calcium ion peak compared to in wild-type mice
• however, depression of base levels of intracellular calcium ions is normal following stimulation
• heart function deteriorates with age
• mice exhibit myocyte necrosis, mild inflammation and occasional mineralization associated with fibrosis

homeostasis/metabolism
• mice exhibit dilation of the atria with large thrombi that partially occlude the lumen

hematopoietic system
• in some mice

immune system

• in some mice

muscle

endocrine/exocrine glands
• in some mice
