reproductive system
• combined testes weight in homozygotes is around half that in wild-type mice even though total body weights are not significantly different
• spermatozoa are absent from the vas deferens and epididymis instead the lumen of the epididymis contained many degenerating spermatocytes and some giant multi-nucleated cells

endocrine/exocrine glands
• combined testes weight in homozygotes is around half that in wild-type mice even though total body weights are not significantly different

reproductive system
• significantly fewer sperm are recovered from heterozygotes compared to wild-type mice
• pachytene spermatocytes are unaffected, while the number of haploid spermatids is significantly lower compared to wild-type mice
• Background Sensitivity: this affect is more pronounced on an inbred 129S6/SvEvTac background than on an outbred 129S6/SvEvTac x MF1 background
• the conception rate was reduced to 16% compared to 90% for wild-type mice
• on an inbred 129S6/SvEv background no offspring were obtained from heterozygous matings

cellular
• significantly fewer sperm are recovered from heterozygotes compared to wild-type mice
