• although no ataxia is apparent at P45, heterozygotes show a 55% reduction in their ability to remain on an accelerating rotarod relative to wild-type controls, indicating a motor deficit
• however, no Purkinje cell loss or abnormal cerebellum morphology are observed

• in the neonatal cerebellum, phosphatase activity toward soluble phosphoinositol substrates is reduced to an intermediate level relative to homozygotes
