• B cell development is arrested at the B220+CD43+ progenitor B cell stage in which Ig rearrangement processes are initiated
• mice show impaired V(D)J coding joining but normal signal joining in thymocytes
• markedly reduced levels of Dbeta2-Jbeta2 joins
• barely detectable levels of Vbeta8-DJbeta2 joins
• however, levels of Ddelta2-Jdelta1 RS joins are normal
• absence of CD4+CD8+ cells
• block at an early progenitor stage in which Tcr rearrangement processes are initiated but progression from the double negative to double positive stage is blocked
