neoplasm
• multiparous transgenic mice frequently develop mammary tumors (3-25%, with average latency period of about 10 months)

endocrine/exocrine glands
• mutants exhibit a higher proliferation rate of mammary epithelial cells at day 14 and 18 of pregnancy
• delay in involution is accompanied by severe mastitis in 10-15% of transgenic mice
• mutants exhibit delayed involution, such that at 3 days after pup removal, compaction of alveoli and loss of epithelial cells is not observed as in wild-type
• alveoli remain small at day 3 postpartum and 6 days of lactation
• alveolar structures occupy more of the fat pad by 14 days of pregnancy and appear denser with smaller lumens
• mutants exhibit a higher proliferation rate of mammary epithelial cells at day 14 and 18 of pregnancy
• multiparous transgenic mice frequently develop mammary tumors (3-25%, with average latency period of about 10 months)
• mice are able to lactate, however milk contains higher levels of milk proteins (alpha-casein, beta-casein, and gamma-casein) are found in the milk, resulting in a more rapid weight increase of pups than observed with wild-type mothers

immune system
