behavior/neurological
• in the Morris water maze learning, mutants show increased latencies to reach the hidden platform compared to wild-type on acquisition, but no memory deficits on probe trials
• homozygotes spend about 20% more time in the open areas of the zero-maze indicating decreased anxiety, however they do not show differences in head dips and stretch-attend movements
• decrease in both horizontal and vertical activity
• mutants show decreased exploratory locomotor activity, but respond normally to a challenge dose of D-methamphetamine

homeostasis/metabolism
N
• mutants have normal body weights, circulating levels of glucose and insulin in fed and fasted states, and blood glucose clearance in glucose and insulin tolerance tests, however they show a reduced, or more rapidly attenuated, insulin-stimulated interaction between IRS-1 and PI3-K in the liver
