integument
• hyperproliferation of keratinocytes in the basal layer
• psoriatic skin contains an infiltrate of CD45+ leukocytes composed of increased numbers of neutrophils, myeloid antigen-presenting cells and gamma-delta and alpha-beta T cells
• epidermis shows presence of microabscesses made up of neutrophils
• however, mice do not have an epidermal barrier defect
• ears show areas of hyperkeratosis, including parakeratosis and orthokeratosis and keratotic follicular plugging
• ear tissues show acanthosis due to keratinocyte hyperproliferation and immune cell infiltration of the skin
• tail skin shows increased thickening of the epidermis
• mice develop dry flaky skin patches on the back at 5 days of age which begin to disappear at 7 days
• mice develop dry flaky skin patches on the back at 5 days of age which begin to disappear at 7 days
• scaling skin lesions
• tail skin shows marked hyperplasia with increased thickening of the epidermis and immune cell infiltration
• mice develop thickened squamous skin on the tail between 2-3 weeks of age and the ears at 4-5 weeks of age, similar to human psoriasis skin lesions
• 100% of adult mice exhibit a chronic psoriatic phenotype with thickened squamous skin of the ears and tail and dry skin around the eyes and whiskers
• tail skin shows marked hyperplasia with increased thickening of the epidermis and immune cell infiltration
• psoriatic skin contains an infiltrate of CD45+ leukocytes composed of increased numbers of neutrophils, myeloid antigen-presenting cells and gamma-delta and alpha-beta T cells
• mice treated with a neutralizing antibody specific for IL-23p19 subunit show a decreased psoriatic phenotype on the ears and tail after 2 weeks of treatment

immune system
• psoriatic skin contains an infiltrate of CD45+ leukocytes composed of increased numbers of neutrophils, myeloid antigen-presenting cells and gamma-delta and alpha-beta T cells

cellular
• hyperproliferation of keratinocytes in the basal layer

cardiovascular system
• increase in the number of enlarged CD31+ blood vessels is seen in the dermis, indicating an increase in dermal vasculature in psoriatic areas

integument
• P5 hair pores exhibit keratinous plugs
• P5 skin shows dilatation of hair pores and keratinous plugs
• P5 mice show mild hyperkeratosis
• at 2-3 weeks of age, mice show hyperkeratosis on the tail
• however, adults exhibit normal ear thickness
• P5 mice show mild acanthosis
• at 2-3 weeks of age, mice show scales on the tail, with the scales gradually increasing until 4-5 weeks of age, however the scales spontaneously disappear 6-7 weeks after birth

mortality/aging
• normal numbers of pups are seen at 1-3 days after birth but fewer than the expected numbers of mice are seen at 3 weeks of age, indicating lower survival rate

integument
• mice exhibit redness and swelling of ears and roughness of tails
• however, the systemic immune response is not affected, with mice showing normal spleen, thymus, and lymph node sizes and normal percentages of B220+ B cells, CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, CD11b+Ly6G+ neutrophils, CD11b+F4/80+ macrophages, and CD11c+MHCII+ dendritic cells
• epidermal acanthosis is seen in the ear, tail and back at 20 days of age
• epidermal thickening of the ears and tail
• mice treated with an IL-17A-blocking antibody show partial reduction of ear thickness
• mice develop a psoriasis-like phenotype
• mice treated with the NF-KappaB inhibitor BAY11-7082 show attenuation of the skin phenotype

immune system
• the percentage and total number of infiltrated IL-17A+ T cells is increased in the ears; most IL-17A+ lymphocytes in the ears are alpha-beta T cells
• mice show increased proportion and absolute numbers of gamma-delta TCRneg T cells but decreased percentage of gamma-delta TCRmid and gamma-delta TCRhi T cells
