mortality/aging
• mice die from lymphoma between 10-20 months of age with a mean around 14-15 months

neoplasm
• B cell derived lymphoma develops in mice over 10 months of age
• the lymphoma consists of IgM+ and IgD+ B cells
• 88% of the mice have the spleen as the principle organ involved, with the lymphoma infiltrating and destroying the red pulp
• 25% percent of mice have enlarged thymuses with disruption of the general architecture and extensive replacement of the normal cortex and medulla with lymphoma cells
• disseminated lymphoma occurs in about 19% of mice with involvement of the kidneys, lungs, liver and pancreas

immune system
• one 3 week old mouse displayed minor spleen hyperplasia
• at 6 months of age, 3 of 4 mice had spleen hyperplasia with one of these mice having infiltration of the red pulp
• clonal expansion of B cell lymphomas leads to a dominant or co-dominant V-D-J recombination instead of the diverse V-D-J recombinations observed in control mice
• myeloid hyperplasia was observed in one 6 month old mouse
• myeloid hyperplasia occurs in 30% of mice by the time they are terminally ill with lymphoma with 6% of these having no lymphoid involvement of other tissues
• Mac-1+ myeloid cell numbers are significantly increased in older mice with lymphoma
• increases in this cell population are noted in the bone marrow and lymph nodes of mice with lymphoma

hematopoietic system
• one 3 week old mouse displayed minor spleen hyperplasia
• at 6 months of age, 3 of 4 mice had spleen hyperplasia with one of these mice having infiltration of the red pulp
• clonal expansion of B cell lymphomas leads to a dominant or co-dominant V-D-J recombination instead of the diverse V-D-J recombinations observed in control mice

growth/size/body
• one 3 week old mouse displayed minor spleen hyperplasia
• at 6 months of age, 3 of 4 mice had spleen hyperplasia with one of these mice having infiltration of the red pulp
